1990 Ford Mustang Convertible

When I sold my airplane one of the things I did was buy the wife a Toy. It is a bit of a Hot Rod with a 5.0 injected with factory headers. It is coupled up to an AOD trans. This thing is squirrelly as Hell.  It needs some cosmetics to make it a 9 of 9 but so far it is a pretty Kool machine.

I will be adding more pictures as time and weather permits.

Here is a look at the Mustang as purchased

Ok as luck would have it the new wears off quite quickly and I soon had a growing list of Honey-do's from the War Dept and that turned into "I don't feel comfortable driving this till it gets fixed".  Well as I don't move real good these days so the minor repairs have taken LOTS longer than I wanted for sure.

Among the main problems was the rather Large oil leak from the lower front of the car.  It was so big I couldn't find the source till I had the whole engine and running gear steamed cleaned.  After cleaning I added some phosphorescent dye to the engine oil and drove the leaker home and started looking for the leak.

I found the leak to be the pan gasket!  Now here is where I went nuts!!! I fought and my brother fought valiantly but I now realize that no matter what ford says the pan gasket can not be replaced in the car.

Now as I had to pull the motor the War Dept decided it would be Kool if we kind of updated the motor a bit.  First it got a teardown and every possible source of oil extrusion was re-sealed.  New oil pump, and a bunch of shiny stuff and it just made it's way back into the engine compartment.  I swear Ford made things tight just to hear a mechanic scream as he tries to work on this monster..

Anyway here is some pictures of the dressed up motor!!
