My Brother Phill has this nice 67 GTA. We're gonna take it all apart and try to put it back together again!  You  might ask, why we would take a completely nice looking mustang apart? Well, the answer is still not clear however we're car guys and we sometimes just decide to do something about all them little nagging things you been ignoring and do it all at once!

So his project is launched, and I volunteered (after I was asked) to help him when I can. I also foolishly agreed to do the electrical and Engine and He actually agreed to let me do it!

This is a random selection of snaps at this time and not necessarily in the correct order.

Looks like a couple a spots on his camera. Here is the mustang not long after he bought it and just after he had the paint freshened.

The pictures above are of the car just after my brother bought it. One of the first things to do then was get it one solid color and make it a driver.

A new set of shoes

Of course a new set a wheels and tires to make it Look Good.

Adding some old style wheels make the car look good

We're going to do this as time and energy allows at my brothers place, as he has a nice 4 post lift.  Another benefit of using his place is that he has to clean up!!!!!

Under the car getting the running gear ready to pull stuff.

Note the Mashed fuel line.

With this shot I am under the mustang on the lift. We're pulling the motor and trans to freshen it up some and to have better access to the underside to do some panel replacement.  This picture was snapped only moments before Phill gave me a large drink of antifreeze by forgetting he was still holding the bucket. He said No worries.  I said (I tasted better)

Fuel Tank

Just as I thought it was safe to work under the car and I had dried off from my antifreeze bath Phill says "hey, help me drop the fuel tank".I should have seen the warning flags flying in my face! Phill decided the easiest way to get the few gallons of fuel out of the tank was to use a funnel, a rubber hose, and a boat tank gas can. He would then pull the drain plug and drain the fuel.

To me, this sounded like a sound plan!!!!  Of Course, We have the best luck in the world when it comes to simple things like this.  Problem was his funky funnel had a valve on the bottom of it and the damn thing was just cracked open but not enough to equal the fuel spilling out of the drain plug hole. we started with him holding the funnel, I was holding the hose, and removing the drain plug. With the drain plug removed things looked ok for a few moments. Phill then  handed the funnel off to me and we was going to check if he opened the vent in the fuel container on the ground.

As I was watching the funnel, the fuel was rapidly filling the funnel faster than it  could drain out. I said, "Ahh Phill ya want to give me a hand here I need the fuel drain plug"  Well Phill raised up saw what was happening but he just looked Like a deer in the headlights. There was no time and he didn't know where I set the drain plug. Then with a beautiful cascading waterfall effect the fuel spilled over the funnel and down my arm into my armpit and all the way down my pant leg. It wasn't stopping and I didn't have any hands free as I was still holding the fuel funnel and hose.  Phill didn't know where the drain plug was, the fuel was merrily splashing over the funnel and all over me...

Well I finally just dropped the funnel and did what any self respecting Dutchmen would do, I just stuck my finger in the hole and sealed it up. We then fumbled the funnel valve open and made sure all was clear and I could remove my finger. I let Phill finish up the draining process while I did a little first aid for the burning all down my side. I wound up stripping from the waist up and used my starter jacket for a shirt. When I got home the wife did all she could to save my pants and shirt but was just unable to get that gas smell out...

Floorboards

Just a picture or two where we are going to concentrate on some clean up of previous sheet metal replacements

A picture of a previous repair. We will have to look at all of the previous work to make sure we don't have any serious issues. We also need to clean up a lot of workmanship issues from the previous hack.

Interesting picture of the top of my head and the bottom of the car.

interior parts

Phill is securing new upholstery in some custom colors so all the interior is spread out over his shop.

Seats and other parts.

Just parts, tools, and the inside of Phill's shop. The cardboard boxes hold the new wiring harnesses and lots of other shiny do dads that make the car go faster.

Mustang parts in the rafters Looks like my Shop too. Overhead storage is the first to go.

Trunk problems

There are several areas in the trunk we are going to work on. there is some rust holes in the flange area of the fuel tank mount. We have a replacement panel for there.  Big P.I.T.A. is digging all of the old crap off the bolts to pull the fuel tank out.

We have some rust in the typical trunk areas. Right now Phill is trying to expose bolts buried under 40 years of undercoating and STUFF.
