Steeroids Rack and Pinion Conversion

Instead of a major replacement of the front end  Phill opted to convert to Power Rack and Pinion steering. He looked around and decided to go with a system call Steeroids.  It is a fundamentally a bolt in conversion. If you mustang previously had power steering it is a simple bolt it on deal.

If you mustang did not come with factory power steering you will need to drill 2 holes in the bottom frame member and install 2  3/8-16 press-nuts.

Phills's car was a factory power-steering so should have had the press-nuts installed but over the years I guess both had been butchered because all we had were two gaping holes in the frame. I got a plain steel washer that the press-nut fit into and set the nut into the washer and welded that to the frame. It seems solid as hell.

The Steeroids Rack is a 2 and 1/2 turn stop to stop rack.

The rack is a clean install and does not require removing the frame brace.

This is king of a Peek a Boo shot from where the left front tires sets.

Nice parts used in the Kit. The mounting bolts, nuts, and washers were Cad plated to resist rust. The tie rods are aluminum tube and uses spherical rod ends.

Phill woke me for this shot. I was taking a well deserved nap.
