Some personal thoughts on large mobility companies |
This page is centered toward electrical mobility equipment. There are many other sites out there that can talk manual wheelchairs. I can not use a manual chair due to my hands and shoulders and I have dealt exclusively with electric mobility equipment.
This page is more or less my soapbox sharing what information I have and hoping to help at least 1 person in this world. I guess I am kind of a strange person because I get pleasure from seeing someone benefit from something I said or did.
I want to let people know at least in my area if they have need of help getting parts, repairs, or anything I can help them with I am here and always available to help. Do not worry! My advice is free. My information is free and If you are in serious need contact me.

The Mobility Stigma
I have been using electric mobility equipment of various types since about 1997. I have used 3 wheel carts 3 wheel scooters, 4 wheel scooters and several models of Powerchair. I must have been borne at the right time, plus I had many years to prepare me for the eventuality of needing mobility equipment.
I was a bit self conscious at first but soon learned that the new abilities this equipment provided me far outweighed the opinions of anyone concerning my appearance. I then asked myself "Why the He!!" am I concerned about what someone thinks. I am just leveling the playing field in my own way. My advice, is to Just Do It.
I have a reason for mentioning this. I see a lot of people like myself and older hobbling around a store miserable because they are to embarrassed to use a chair or scooter. I also see these people secretly steeling a glance at the chair or scooter with that look in there face like "Man if I had something like that I could really get out and around"
I do not know or understand the stigma that much but I try everyday to encourage anyone whom could benefit from a assistive or mobility device to GO FOR IT..
